Google does index your fan pages and the content inside the tabs (such as
Wall, Notes, Discussions etc). However from our experience, in most cases, the fan page shows up only for branded terms (not for your actual product / service).
And although your wall feed and comments gets indexed - Google isn’t going to show it on page one as wall feeds get cluttered and pushed down even inside Facebook based on frequency of people commenting. Although with the new changes in Facebook, they are trying to show 'relevant' comments opposed to sorting it by 'date posted'. So, this could lead to better indexing later.
Anyways - getting back to SEOing your Facebook (yup that’s a word... I made
it up) - you can configure your 'Notes' tab to pull your RSS feeds from your
blogs - and that has an SEO benefit.
So basically you want to:
1. Add the NOTES tab to your page
2. Import your RSS Feed
3. You can then play around with the look/feel but this is not important
from a Google perspective.
The NOTE tab usually take your topic from your blog and put it in the header
(h1) tag, and URL (sometimes... Facebook is acting weird lately but im
looking into this) - but basically if you put your keyword phrase into your
blog postings - when it gets pulled into your Facebook Notes Tab - the
keyword phrase will be in the URL and H1 and in the content of the note -
giving it a boost in SEO ranking.
Also Facebook Videos have optimization value - not as much as YouTube but
still worth the effort.
OK so even if you do not do the NOTES tab, or if you have videos to
optimize, simply syndicating your blog postings or content on your social
channels (including Facebook) will help drive targeted links back to your
site in which Google views as quality links.
Have you noticed your news feed has shrunk to just a few friends? Don't worry your friends aren't ignoring you, Facebook is only showing friends that you've commented on over the past few weeks. This was a result of upgrading your profile page.
Not to worry the fix is easy and you can be in the loop with all your friends. Go to the bottom of the news feed, click "Edit Options", click on "Show Posts From" and
change the setting to "All Of Your Friends and Pages" Note: This is
the fix for personal pages but I am unsure of whether or not the
business pages are set up the same way.
Actually, this time it's not so scary as the Google Places changes last year. But, it does have to do with changes to Google Places. They are changing the way they serve ads on Google Places and for the better.
Quite simply, if you have an adwords campaign with dynamically attached business addresses to your ads, a.k.a. a location extension-enabled ad; then it will now diplay highlighted in blue with a blue pin marking the location on the map. Here's an example:
As you can see the advertiser really stands out from the crowd. Your ad will be served whenever Googlers search locally on your relevant business keywords. This really adds value to your adwords campaign. Even better, you can take advantage of this at no extra cost.
Do you know if your adwords campaign qualifies for this feature? Or, would you like to begin an adwords campaign to take advantage of location extension-enabled ads? Give us a call 1-866-690-4249 today to speak with our experienced adwords professionals.
